Let Us Go Where the Ones Who Sleep Dance explores a deeply personal journey through questions of existence, belonging, and the search for meaning. Rooted in a pivotal moment of reflection in 2020, the exhibition draws inspiration from a Yoruba masquerade performance in the artist’s mother’s hometown, an encounter that sparked contemplation about the ties between this world and the unseen, and the enduring reasons we find to remain connected to life.

Using masquerades drawn from Yoruba cultural traditions as symbolic avatars, the artist navigates themes of wonder, uncertainty, and self-discovery. These figures become companions in a search for purpose, guided by imagined versions of the little girls she never fully had the chance to be.

Across the works, the fantastical and the everyday exist side by side, offering a meditation on what it means to inhabit this life with curiosity, resilience, and grace. Through layered narratives of memory, identity, and transformation, the exhibition invites viewers into a world where the spiritual and the ordinary meet, and where joy and questioning can coexist.
