Rele Los Angeles is pleased to present Eye Candy – a dual exhibition featuring the extraordinary works of Jite Agbro and Austin Uzor, opening on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 4-6 pm.
Eye Candy captures the immediate visual pull of both artists’ works, where colour draws the viewer in before unfolding into richer, more intricate stories. Through explorations of identity, memory, and belonging, the artists examine how we shape and safeguard personal and shared spaces.
Jite Agbro’s work explores self-protection through non-verbal communication, clothing, gesture, and social cues. Her practice examines how individuals craft identities in public space to navigate shifting social codes, and how these strategies both safeguard and reproduce existing systems of power.
Austin Uzor’s paintings and drawings navigate the tension between having a “home” and feeling “homeless.” Through immersive, cinematic compositions, he reconstructs spaces that were once familiar but are now unrecognizable, reflecting on memory, displacement, and the ongoing search for belonging. Each fragment of imagery acts as both a remembrance and an imagined reconstruction of worlds that once were.
